ONEUS 12th EP ‘FIRST LIGHT : 井’

ONEUS has finally returned as a full group with their new album, ‘FIRST LIGHT : 井’.

This album tells the story of ONEUS and TOMOON, who have continued to illuminate one another throughout their journey. It is a record of reconnecting with the moment where their story first began.

The symbol 井 in ‘FIRST LIGHT : 井’ represents ONEUS, while also symbolizing a mirror that reflects light and a space where their memories and promises remain at their clearest.

In the depths of night, when the 井 could reflect nothing, the first ray of light enters and allows everything around it to be seen in full. From the moonlight that shines through the night to the sunlight that opens the morning, their shared time remains here forever, like the blue dawn that rests between the two.

‘FIRST LIGHT’ is not a light that shines in only one direction. It is a light that allows them to face one another again and see themselves reflected in each other.

The moonlight of night and the first light of morning both remain within the 井. So that they may continue to shine, whether in the darkest night or the brightest day, the 井 will hold all of that light and all of their shared time, continuing to shine forever.

Set against the deepening night, “Runaway” portrays the desperate longing of someone unable to let go as the person they love gradually drifts farther away. A lyrical melody naturally seeps into the rhythmic groove of Afrobeat, while the recurring cry of “Baby don’t runaway” captures the wavering emotions of two people trying not to lose each other, even in the darkness.

“Say Yes!” is an R.Tee style track characterized by its pop-driven sound and powerful drop. Like the first sunlight encountered after passing through a dark night, the song depicts the moment of illuminating one another again and moving toward a new beginning.

Even when their feet get wet and clouds obscure the moon, their determination to never let go of each other bursts forth in the cry “Don’t Look Away.” The repeated phrase “Say Yes” embodies the belief that they can accomplish anything together, as well as a promise to move forward toward a new beginning.

“By chance” calmly portrays the lingering emotions of someone unable to easily erase a love that has ended, wandering between memories and longing. Over a raw-textured sound and lyrical melody, restrained vocals and rap delicately express how memories only grow clearer the more one tries to forget them.

ONEUS members HWANWOONG and LEEDO participated directly in both the lyrics and composition, adding an even greater sense of sincerity to the track.
